Insane Solar — installer-led, AI-run office, Midlands. No fat commission layer. Fair prices, proper kit.
Most solar firms are sales offices with a crew subbed out the back. We're a fitting crew that let software eat the office. Here's the real difference it makes to your roof — and to the lads who climb it.
Salesmen don't care about the people who actually fit the product. They don't know who's worth what. They cut costs in all the wrong places because they know nothing about how the job is done — only how to sell it. Having money and being able to sell isn't god for real grafters. Good workers go unnoticed, then the company cuts costs on the wrong workers. The lads who climb get shafted, and your roof pays for it.
We do it different: salesmen sell, surveyors survey, fitters fit, AI runs the office — everyone in their lane, no one cuts corners on the lads who climb.
From this page to panels on your roof without a single cold call.
Fill the form on this page. Takes about a minute. No phone tree, no "our advisor will call".
Site manager gets pinged on WhatsApp & email the second you hit send. Lead doesn't rot in a CRM.
A proper surveyor comes out, measures your roof, and sells the job properly — you keep the sales conversation, done right.
Install crew turns up on the booked day, fits the system we quoted, cleans up, and hands you the keys.
MCS, G98/G99, Part P paperwork, invoices, customer updates — prepared & filed automatically; your registered installer signs off the certs. You just enjoy the bill drop.
Every boring compliance and admin task a normal company hires three people for — handled by software. That saving is why our quotes are lower. Full list:
MCS-certified install. The AI prepares the application and tracks your certificate to issuance — signed off by our MCS-registered installer, so your SEG and warranty are valid.
G98 fit-and-notify (≤3.68kW/phase, 28 days) or G99 pre-approval (>3.68kW/phase, ~45 working days) — paperwork filed for you.
When the DNO imposes an export restriction, the smart meter + inverter link is configured to throttle feed-in correctly.
We check your Energy Performance Certificate as part of the survey. An EPC is not required for Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) signup. It can still matter for other grants, insurance, or future work — we'll flag anything useful before you commit.
Building control notification through NAPIT (or NICEIC). Electrical Installation Certificate signed off by our registered electrician — the AI logs and sends every document.
Deposit protection and insurance-backed guarantees arranged through HIES where membership is in place. Admin handled for you.
Itemised quotes, invoices, and payment schedules generated per job — you always know exactly what you're paying for.
Booked slots, crew allocation, and day-before reminders — no "we forgot your job" silence.
Exact rail, clamp, cable, and panel counts per roof — ordered from UK stockists, next-day where possible.
Automated updates at every stage — survey booked, materials ordered, install day, certs issued.
MPAN setup and Smart Export Guarantee signup — typical 3–15p/kWh export, up to ~27p/kWh peak on smart tariffs with a compatible battery.
Panels + inverter + battery + labour as one supply at 0% VAT until 31 March 2027 (reverts to 5% from 1 April 2027), subject to eligibility — we apply it correctly on every invoice.
Runs strategy, paperwork, MCS/G98/G99 filings, scheduling, customer comms, quotes & invoices. Never sleeps, never loses a form.
Runs job dispatch, crew scheduling, material ordering lists, compliance tracking, export-limiter config, and post-install SEG signup. Keeps the lads on site with the right kit.
Site side is run by real installers — the blokes who actually hold the rails. The AI just does the boring bit, faster and cheaper than any office.
Certificates are issued by our MCS / NAPIT-registered installers. The AI office prepares, files and tracks every document — nothing is certified by software alone.
No vague "Tier-1 panels" waffle. Search by brand or category. All specs labelled typical — confirmed at survey.
No products match that search.

Power your own home
Solar panels + a battery mean you make your own power by day, store it for the evening, and sell any surplus back through the Smart Export Guarantee. You don't have to go fully off-grid — most homes stay connected and use the grid as backup. A typical 4kWp system with battery runs roughly £9,000–£14,000 installed (0% VAT to 31 Mar 2027, eligibility applies), and SEG export pays you for every spare kWh.
Done properly it needs an MCS-certified installer, Building Regulations Part P sign-off and DNO notification (G98 / G99) — we handle all of that on every fit. Full plain-English guide: how it works, battery options (Tesla Powerwall, GivEnergy, Anker SOLIX, EcoFlow), costs, SEG rates and the rules.
Costs are typical ranges, not a quote. Not legal advice — always consult a solicitor. Off Grid guide →
We're independent — we don't push a tariff. Here are the real UK SEG (Smart Export Guarantee) rates and solar-friendly tariffs worth looking at. All figures typical 2026 — verify at sign-up, subject to eligibility and an MCS-certified install; rates move with the market.
Go for an Octopus Flux-style time-of-use tariff: charge overnight cheap (~5p), export at peak 4–7pm for ~27–30p/kWh typical. Battery pays for itself faster.
You export in daylight, so a flat SEG rate is what matters. EDF ~15p fixed if you're their customer; otherwise Octopus 4.1p flat is open to everyone. Switching is free and takes ~2 weeks.
The AI office prepares your switch + SEG signup paperwork — you authorise and sign it, the supplier still decides. MPAN setup, export meter registration and the application, all after install. No downtime; your new supplier manages the switch.
Flux / Intelligent Octopus Flux: peak export ~27–30p/kWh 4–7pm with compatible battery, import ~21p typical. SEG: 4.1p/kWh fixed, open to all suppliers.
SEG Export ~15p/kWh fixed 12-month (EDF customers / EDF-supplied kit). Variable ~5.6p for existing customers; ~3p open variable.
Export Premium variable — rate moves with the market (~3–12p range seen in 2026). Simple signup if you're already with them.
SEG tariff available for solar exports. E.ON Next also installs solar (Aiko panels) — but you don't have to buy from them to take their SEG.
SEG up to ~15p/kWh if they supplied your install; ~6p open to others. Strong if you're in their footprint and took their package.
SEG tariff available for exported solar. Worth comparing alongside the big six — rates move quarterly.
SEG tariff available — usually best value if you bundle energy + broadband + mobile with them. Partner-referred model.
Rates compiled from publicly listed tariffs (Octopus, EDF, Sunsave, MoneySavingExpert, SolarInfo UK, October 2026). SEG requires an MCS-certified install and a smart meter — we handle both. All rates and 0% VAT subject to eligibility; verify at sign-up. Switching supplier causes no power downtime.
Aftercare is not an upsell — it's included. Here's exactly what you get.
MCS certificate (issued by our registered installer), G98/G99 DNO confirmation, building control notice, inverter manual, all warranty docs — the AI assembles the pack and emails it same day.
GivCloud / SolarEdge monitoring / Sunsynk Connect — we set it up on your phone before we leave so you watch generation from day one.
Inverter servicing, panel cleaning, bird-mesh integrity checks — included in your annual check / small extra for deep cleans.
25yr workmanship, 10–25yr product (varies by brand), HIES insurance-backed guarantee. If we go under, HIES covers your install.
Fault reporting goes straight to the site manager's WhatsApp — not a ticket queue. Photo of the fault light, we diagnose remotely and send a lad if needed.
Tick it off — saves to this browser. Print or screenshot for your records.
Aftercare is not an upsell — it's included.
The questions everyone asks, and the terms every salesman hides behind. Plain English.
Usually no — domestic solar is Permitted Development. Exceptions: listed buildings, conservation areas, and some flats. We check for you at survey and handle any application needed.
Still works — typically ~10–15% less generation than a south-facing roof. East/west actually spreads generation across the day, which pairs well with a battery. We model your exact roof orientation at survey.
Yes — if we fit a hybrid inverter now, adding a battery later is a half-day job, no rewiring. If you're on the fence, say so at survey and we'll spec hybrid from day one.
Typical 9–11 years in England, based on ~£400–£700/yr bill saving plus £100–£300/yr SEG export income. With a battery and a peak-export tariff, it can be faster. We give you a personalised payback figure at survey.
You need a smart meter for SEG payments (it measures export). If you don't have one, your supplier installs it free — we coordinate it. No cost to you.
Standard solar shuts off in a cut (grid safety). With a battery + backup (GivEnergy Gen3 / Sunsynk — 10ms switchover), essentials like fridge, router and lights keep running. Whole-home backup needs a bigger battery.
1–2 days typical for a domestic 4kWp system. Scaffold goes up the day before, comes down the day after. You're without power for maybe an hour while we connect the AC side.
Included in the price. We arrange it, it's up for a day or two, and we book the date around you. No hidden "scaffold surcharge" after you sign.
Yes. The physical install and the MCS certificate are done and signed by our MCS-registered installer. The AI office only prepares and tracks the application. Part P is handled by our NAPIT-registered electrician. HIES covers deposit protection and the insurance-backed guarantee when membership applies. You get the full paperwork pack at handover.
Panels carry 10–25yr product warranties (Maxeon: 40yr) plus 25yr linear performance. Our 25yr workmanship warranty and HIES insurance-backed guarantee cover the rest. If a panel fails, we sort the replacement — you don't chase the manufacturer.
kWp = peak power your panels can produce (size of system). kWh = energy actually generated/used over time (what you pay for). A 4kWp system makes ~3,000–4,000 kWh/yr.
Microgeneration Certification Scheme — the kitemark that proves your install meets UK standards. Required for SEG payments and most warranties. We're registered; AI files the cert.
Grid connection rules. G98 (≤3.68kW per phase): fit then notify DNO within 28 days. G99 (bigger): pre-approval needed, ~45 working days. We handle the application.
Smart Export Guarantee — suppliers pay you for solar you export to the grid. Typical 3–15p/kWh flat, up to ~27–30p peak with a battery on smart tariffs. Needs MCS + smart meter.
Converts panel DC to house AC AND has battery charging built in. Add a battery later without changing the inverter. What we recommend if you're "maybe" on battery.
A battery that connects on the AC side (after your existing inverter). Used when you already have solar and retro-fit a battery. Slightly less efficient than DC-coupled but no inverter swap.
A smart meter that throttles your inverter so you never export more than your DNO allows. Required on some G99 installs (EREC/G100). We configure it — you never notice it.
Energy Performance Certificate — your home's energy rating. Not required for SEG. We still look at it at survey so you know where you stand if you later want other upgrades or grants.
Building control approval for electrical work. We notify via NAPIT (or NICEIC). Electrical Installation Certificate signed off by our NAPIT/NICEIC-registered electrician — legal requirement; the AI office logs it and sends it to you.
Home Insulation & Energy Systems — protects your deposit and gives an insurance-backed guarantee on workmanship. If we cease trading, HIES covers your install where membership applies.
The typical salesman-run company vs installer-led Insane Solar. We don't name names — you'll feel the difference on your roof.
