Pleading Sanity home

A place to start

Support that stays with you

You don't have to be in crisis to reach out. You don't need perfect words or a reason that sounds big enough. You deserve to be heard today — and to have somewhere that can still be there next month.

These options are free to contact. Some services have their own eligibility, opening arrangements or waiting lists; you do not need to pay Pleading Sanity or buy anything here.

Anytime — someone to listen now

You can reach out even if you cannot explain everything neatly. You do not have to wait until things get worse.

Samaritans

Free, day or night, if you need someone to listen.

Call 116 123

You do not have to be suicidal to contact them.

Shout

Free text-based support in the UK.

Text SHOUT to 85258

Text can be easier than speaking out loud.

Ongoing — help that's there next month too

Support does not have to be one conversation. You can ask before things reach breaking point, and ask again if the first route is not right for you.

Your GP practice

Ask about your mental health, treatment options or a follow-up plan. You can write down what you want to say first.

Someone you trust

A friend, family member, colleague, coach or community worker may be able to check in regularly. Ask for something small, like a weekly call or a walk.

Ongoing services may have waiting lists or eligibility rules. They are not emergency services and do not replace urgent help when someone is in immediate danger.

Emergency — immediate danger

If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999. For urgent mental-health help in England, call NHS 111 and choose option 2.

The full emergency information, including Childline and domestic-abuse support, remains on our dedicated safety page.
